Latest Election Results

Latest election results from the Whitman County Auditor's website as of 5:37 PM 9/21/06:

County Commissioner Dist 3
MICHAEL LARGENT; 999
HARMON SMITH; 548
JIM WHITE; 541
JEANNINE HENLEY LARKIN; 394

Michael Largent's lead has expanded slightly from 39% to 40%. After two additional batches of ballots, Largent's margin has stayed roughly the same. It seems likely that it will hold up.

Meanwhile, for State Representative District #9 Position #1, Joe Schmick has pulled even with Steve Hailey in a statistcial dead heat. Just 24 votes separate the two candidates. A recount now seems likely unless the numbers change significantly when more votes come in from Asotin, Garfield and Franklin Counties (Hailey lives in Franklin County and has a large lead there).

Steve Hailey 3668 31.4445%
Joe Schmick 3644 31.2387%
Tedd Nealey 2844 24.3806%
Glen R. Stockwell 1509 12.9361%
