Signs of Intelligent Life at WSU

I discovered a refreshing new Pullman blogger tonight. His name is Paul Zimmerman and he blogs over at Versus The Mob. It is a "libertarian-oriented blog set up to explore the themes and ideas of individual sovereignty against the constant threat to freedom posed by collectivist thinking and mentalities." As most of you know, I have distinct libertarian tendencies, so much so that Dr. Richard King, Professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies at WSU, once wrote that my views on economic freedom would lead to "strip clubs, kiddie porn outlets and crack houses."

But, hold on to your hats, Zimmerman also teaches introductory philosophy classes at WSU. This could change my whole attitude about the liberal arts.

Check him out!

Hey, thanks for the great plug! But I wouldn't advise anyone to hold their breath over there being a sea change in the general conduct and character of the Liberal Arts. However, I am pleased to report that in the last few weeks, a considerable number of my students have approached me to clarify some things for them that has been encouraging to me: after going over content in the ethics portion of my course regarding ethical egoism, many more students than I would have expected seem to be identifying themselves in that camp. I may only be on board for one semester, but maybe I'll leave a seed behind that will long out last me. :)
