2007 Palouse Basin Water Summit is Underway

The kickoff speeches are underway.

Whitman County Commissioner Michael Largent reiterated Whitman County's commitment to water conservation, although Whitman County is notably absent from the list of sponsors (but they are listed as a supporter.)

Former Latah County Commissioner and Pullman Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paul Kimmell told the crowd that there is no need for hysteria and misinformation about water, but instead we need rational thinking and bridge building.

Moscow City Councilman Aaron Ament threw out his old canard of "Think globally, act locally, and plan regionally."

I'll be live blogging from the summit all day.
