Tunes

Mainly, I expect this will appeal to the younger crowd, but punk rock is an old, long established genre, so you never know.

Punk doesn't always have to march in lockstep to leftist, collectivist, anti-capitalist dogma; the irony about a lot of punk rock these days is exactly that: its conformity to such things and its use as a tool of indoctrination for them. Even if you don't like this style of music, everyone can at least appreciate that there's still some punk rock out there that stands for the sovereignty of the individual and freedom.

Sorry Paul I have to split with you on this one. Maybe my age is a factor.

That's why I threw in the final comment - even if you don't like the sound, you can at least appreciate the message. :)

Sure, why not? Johnny Ramone is a diehard Republican.

Punk sprang up as a reaction to the failed flower power of the hippie movement.

As Paul and I have discussed previously, the counterculture of the Sixties was a rebellion against the conservative conformity of the Eisenhower years.

Our current Politically Correct world is much more stifling. Political incorrectness, individualism, and libertarianism would seem to be the new counterculture.

I guess that's why I see much more of that today in country (Montgomery Gentry) than in rock, the exact opposite of the Sixties.

Sadly, Johnny Ramone was a diehard Republican.

It's a small matter though. His legend lives on.

Sorry, my bad use of tense. Johnny reunited with Joey and Dee Dee a couple of years ago.

I'm sure that wherever they are, they've got it cranked up to 11. :)

Personally, I'm a Led Zeppelin fan. But that's an entirely different issue...
