The Tangled Web

April Coggins comments:
...the law firm of Preston Gates and Ellis is representing Moscow [in the Hawkins Companies appeal]. This is the same law firm that the City of Pullman has retained and Laura McAloon, Pullman City Attorney, is an associate of. The law firm that represents the City of Pullman and our Pullman interests is also serving the City of Moscow who is suing Whitman County, who is also county interest!

If that's not quite enough irony, Whitman County has retained Brian McGinn [of the Spokane firm Winston & Cashatt] (PARD's former attorney) to "review" the Whitman County Rural Residential Ordinance.

This is all at taxpayer expense. It's no wonder we struggle to grow, we are fighting ourselves!
UPDATE: Preston Gates Ellis also employs former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and Washington First Daughter Courtney Gregoire

The update is interesting but Pullman citizens are still paying for a conflict of interest. We are not Pullman residents OR Whitman County residents. We are both. A city attorney is hired to represent the City of Pullman who represents the Pullman citizens. As Pullman residents AND Whitman County residents, we are being sued by a law office that supposedly represents our interests. I don't believe that it is fair for Pullman taxpayers and citizens to pay a law firm that supports us as Pullman residents but fights us as Whitman County residents.
