Pullman Town Hall Meeting Tonight

The City of Pullman will be holding its annual Town Hall meeting tonight at 7:30 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers. The intent is to share issues of interest with 9th District legislators before the start of the legislative session in Olympia. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate.

The city is bringing up several issues that concern economic growth and development. First and foremost are stormwater issues. The Department of Ecology has proposed bringing Pullman under onerous stormwater regulations that would have a negative impact on Pullman, WSU and, in particular, new private sector construction. As I wrote in my last Town Crier column, these regulations will be a growth killer. Pullman has formally requested to be excluded from these regulations.

Other issues are:

- The city's continuing financial challenges
- Internet sales and sales tax revenue
- Business competitiveness with Idaho
- Unfunded mandates
- Support for WSU capital projects
- Water infrastructure for the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport.
- Transportation needs
- Lowering malpractice insurance rates
- Economic development
- Affordable housing
- Labor cost issues

Please join me at the Town Hall meeting tonight and voice your support of the city on these important issues.
