Mike Huckabee on the Issues

As most of you know, I am a Mike Huckabee supporter. Governor Huckabee has done a series of short YouTube videos to address his stance on the important issues. You'll find he's a true conservative:

National Security:

Taxes/Economy:

Immigration:

Sanctity of Life:

Health Care:

Education:

Same-Sex Marriage:

Faith and Politics:

Israel:

Art and Education:

There is a lot to like about Mike as a candidate and a potential president. It would be great if he got the nod, but I wonder what the chances are.

One issue that the Governor didn't address on YouTube, but makes me support him all the more is gun control. Huckabee supports self-defense and the "castle doctrine" and was the first Governor in the country to have a concealed-carry permit. He has stated that allowing concealed-carry at VT may have saved lives.

He'll surprise voters by being so multi-faceted. Huckabee's an NRA member who pushes art and music in education, a former Baptist pastor who plays in a rock and roll band, and a conservative concerned with health care and conservation.

You are right. Governor Huckabee faces some long odds. He lags badly on both fundraising and name recognition. If he does not translate his debate success into donations, he may be forced to exit soon.

But Bill Clinton, another Arkansas governor from Hope, was a dark horse at this point in 1991 as well....

A constitutional amendment to deny same sex marriage?... A well spoken guy, but ideologies like that make me nervous.

I finally took a look at the Huckabee site. The first item I always look at a candidate is their stand on the Second Amendment. I like that Huckabee has CCW license and was against the Brady Bill.
His stand on immigration is good, he wants to enforce the current laws that are being neglected. I like that he is against amnesty.
One thing that did surprise me was his energy policy. So far I have looked at three other candidates, some mention reducing energy depence on foreign countries but Huckabee actually mentioned the "N" word - "Nuclear" power. He should really push this and expand on it. There are a lot of people who are Pro-Nuclear like me who look forward to the building of new nuclear power generation plants in our country. We are sadly in need of power generation and transmission infrastructure.

The jury is still out on who I will pick.
