Honk if you want Wal-Mart

Yesterday on my way home I passed the corner of Main and Grand twice. The first time I heard people honking, but didn't realize what was going on. The second time I found out. A gentleman (I'm not sure who) was standing on the corner with a big sign that said Honk If You Want Wal-Mart! As we drove past we honked several times. As the window was down I was able to listen for other honks. Based upon the information I have read from PARD I didn't expect to hear very many, but in the space of about a 90 second wait at the light I heard 10 different honks. What a surprise!

My kudos to the gentleman holding the sign!

Thanks #1; I was that guy on the corner. Tom asked me to start a new post up, but looks like this will do just fine. I went down again today about 3:30 and stayed until about 6 pm. It was a lot of fun. Oh, by the way the sign says HONK for WAL-MART. I was going to put your saying on there, but it seemed to much so I shortened it up. It sure does work. Sometimes it works so well it’s almost constant horns. I feel bad since I like to be able to wave at and thank each and every person that honks. So, if you have honked and I did not wave back to you and say thanks, I am very sorry.
I am so amazed that some of the people tell me to go F@$#(%. It just doesn’t seem they are being very opened minded about the whole issue. I thought that we were all suppose to be "Pro-Choice". I guess that is only OK if you want to kill your baby, I digress sorry. I noticed one more thing today, it seems to me that it is the people driving by in the not so new of cars that are for WAL-MART. Don't get me wrong there are those nice older ladies and gentlemen driving by in the Caddy's and the younger set in Beamer’s that honk as well. By and large the numbers of those that honk are in the mini-vans or older cars. I had one gentleman stop by and say "HI" and asked what I was doing. I told him and he said "GOOD, those that don't want WAL-MART should not shop there, which would be for most of the cases”. That will not be a very big number as told by the honks.
At some points it is almost solid honks, it takes just one to get a set of lights going and boy-oh-boy then it will start the 'horns-a-honking'. I had some big rigs roll thru and they laid into the horns and WOW what a response from the other drivers. THANKS so much to you and all those that did honk. Had a couple of girls go by and I would say maybe they were grad school age. The one asked if I was getting paid for this I said, “NO absolutely not”. She said I sure wouldn't do it without being paid. Isn't it sad we have got to the point that everything we do we have to be paid for. Well, I would love to continue to write about things that happened but I may add more later. If you drove by and honked PLEASE add your 2 cents worth. I would love to hear what you have to say.

It takes courage to stand up for your beliefs. Most of us complain about this and that and do nothing.
Good for you!And thanks for taking a stand for all of us.

It's funny here at work I am getting 'ribbed' for doing it. They too are wondering if I am getting paid. So of course NOT. I just want to see Pullman, to be able to some day aford a Trolly some day (no not realy I just could not resist, taking a jab at JK). I want Pullman to be able to afford keeping the library open and not to have to reduce there hours as is being talked about with budget short falls.
