At the end of the day, if it isn't business smart, it isn't sustainable. If it doesn't balance the needs of the community, it isn't sustainable and if it results in irrepairable environmental damage and/or depletion of a vital resource, it isn't sustainable.

Many of those who would misuse the term to justify NIMBYism, stop growth, stop all extractive resource activities (i.e. mining, well drilling) or force their neighbors to conform to their ideals of how property shoud be used are actually not promoting sustainability. They are simply using the word to further their agendas.

One thing that really chaps my hide is environmental activism by intellectually lazy, hypocritical and ill educated causnicks. They do more harm to the environment by destroying the credibility of all involved than most of the "harmful" activities they protest against.Barenjagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05519954543618604696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13796804.post-71139913491875624782007-03-12T18:05:00.000-07:002007-03-12T18:05:00.000-07:00It seems to me that the word "sustainable" is bein...It seems to me that the word "sustainable" is being hijacked by the left. The word that would more accurately describe their so-called goals is "perpetual," but everyone would be able to see through their absurdity, so they borrowed and have redefined "sustainable."

My breathing is sustainable, but not perpetual.April E.
